Bojangles' Names Anderson's Carlos Peraza Two-Time Champ of Franchise Master Biscuit Maker Challenge

Charlotte, N.C. - Nov. 15, 2013 - Local Bojangles’ Team Member Wins #MasterBiscuitMaker Franchise Competition, Brings Home $2,500 Cash Prize.

Carlos Peraza, a team member at the Bojangles’ located at 2102 N. Main St. in Anderson, S.C., has once again been named champion in Bojangles’ 4th annual Master Biscuit Maker Franchise Challenge, making him the best biscuit-maker of all Bojangles’ franchised restaurants this year. Bojangles’ Master Biscuit Maker Challenge is an annual system-wide competition in which thousands of Bojangles’ team members from more than 550 company-owned and franchised locations across the Southeast compete to be named the top biscuit-maker, the Master Biscuit Maker.

Peraza, who won the inaugural Master Biscuit Maker Franchise Challenge in 2009, earned the top spot again this year and took home a $2,500 cash prize, a champion trophy and most importantly, bragging rights. The North Main Street Bojangles’ team and franchise group E.O. Enterprises who operates the location welcome residents and visitors to stop by and enjoy delicious biscuits, hand-crafted by a two-time Master Biscuit Maker.

"It was so exciting to compete against the other biscuit-makers in this competition," said Peraza. "I can’t believe I won. It’s exciting to hold a check for $2,500!"

It’s no surprise that Bojangles’ takes biscuit-making and its hard-working team members seriously. Since 1977, Bojangles’ made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits have been the basis for the mouthwatering breakfast that keeps fans coming back all day with more than 2.7 billion biscuits served to date. Peraza has been with Bojangles’ since November of 2008 and has truly mastered Bojangles’ strict biscuit-making process.

"We are so impressed by the incredible dedication and skill demonstrated by our biscuit-makers during the Master Biscuit Maker Franchise Challenge, especially our 2009 and 2013 champion Carlos," said Bojangles’ Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations Tony Hopson. "All of Bojangles’ franchise groups embrace our high standards for quality and emphasis on the biscuit-making process. This is what keeps our customers coming back for Bojangles’ famous biscuits all day."
