Las Vegas Exit Realty Office Gives Back to the Community

Las Vegas, Nevada (Grassroots Newswire) November 25, 2013 - In gratitude for the support shown to EXIT Realty Platinum Group by the local community, the real estate brokerage recently participated in Sight Night for One Sight.

October means falling leaves, trick-or-treaters and plenty of apple cider, but for thousands of volunteers, it’s also an opportunity to provide the gift of sight to those in need. Every year on Sight Night (trick-or-treat), volunteers take to the streets in an effort to collect used eyeglasses. The used eyewear is cleaned, categorized by prescription and then recycled for use on Global Clinics where they are hand-delivered to adults and children in need in developing countries by OneSight® volunteers. This eyewear provides the opportunity for many to see clearly – some for the first time. Over the past ten years, more than 165,000 volunteers have collected more than 1 million pair of eyeglasses.

"Sight Night is a ton of fun, and I’m helping people at the same time," said Vandana Chima-Bhalla, who partnered with her children, family and colleagues in Nevada and California to collect over 100 pairs of eyeglasses. What types of eyeglasses are needed? Complete pairs of prescription eyeglasses in all shapes and sizes for children and adults, as well as non-prescription sunglasses. Good places to inquire about collecting eyeglasses include schools, places of worship, local businesses, recreation centers, restaurants, senior citizen centers and lost and found collections at malls, movie theaters and airports. Visit www.sightnight.org to get involved, and to download materials including fliers, door hangers, stickers and more. You can collect on your own, or expand your efforts by organizing a group. Sight Night is a fun service project to involve schools, Scouts, Lions and Leo clubs, and other community groups.
