Miracle-Ear Enhances Quality of Life for Barto Resident Just in Time for the Holidays

Miracle-Ear Foundation partners with Miracle-Ear of Quakertown to donate hearing aids.

Quakertown, PA (PRWEB) December 09, 2013 - Miracle-Ear® of Quakertown, a part of the nationwide hearing solution franchise, partnered with the Miracle-Ear Foundation to provide, Irene, the gift of sound.

Irene, local resident, was having difficulties conversing with her family and friends. Her daughter, Audrey, would easily get frustrated because she always had to repeat herself and speak up. Often times she couldn’t even hold a conversation with her mother. Irene’s hearing loss was truly straining her life.

At the age of 87, Irene had all but given up on trying to hear her loved ones. That’s when Audrey suggested she get her hearing checked. The hearing test confirmed she had a hearing loss in both ears and hearing aids were a viable solution. However, hearing aids were beyond her budget. At Irene’s visit, Ted Bunn, Quakertown, Hearing Instrument Specialist, encouraged her to apply to the Miracle-Ear Foundation. Ted helped her with the application and submitted it to the Foundation. Upon approval, Irene was fit with donated hearing aids and gifted life-time aftercare.

In partnership with local franchisee, Brian Rafferty and his staff, the Miracle-Ear Foundation, a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization, supports underserved adults and children across the country with their hearing healthcare needs. The Miracle-Ear Foundation, working with Miracle-Ear centers across the country, has donated more than 6,500 hearing aids to over 4,100 individuals nationwide, including the aids donated to Irene.

"We know that hearing loss lowers the quality of life for adults at any age," said Rafferty. "When hearing loss goes undetected, it can lead to social isolation and strained relationships. That is why I strongly encourage my staff at all my Miracle-Ear locations to donate resources and time to enhance the lives of others."

At Irene’s follow up care appointment, she was amazed at how much she was missing. "I now have a full and complete life," Irene said. "I cannot believe the new sounds I hear such as birds, the sounds of the outdoors, children’s voices, car traffic, and I’ll even be able to hear the sounds of the holiday season. Without Miracle-Ear this would not be possible, thank you!"

Irene’s new hearing aids also impacted her relationship with her daughter. "I hadn’t had a conversation with my mother in so long," said Audrey. "And Miracle-Ear and the Foundation made this possible!"

"We’re proud to support better hearing in our community," said Kim Titler, Quakertown Front Office Assistant. "When given the chance to improve lives through the gift of sound, especially during the holiday season, we want to ensure every Quakertown resident has the opportunity."
