Expedia CruiseShipCenters Gives Back in 2013

Over $50,000 Raised For Breast Cancer Research and Awareness

BELLEVUE, WA December 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ - Expedia CruiseShipCenters, a North American leader in the sales of cruises and vacations, continues to generously support its charity of choice, breast cancer research and awareness. Through fundraising initiatives at both the corporate and franchise level, the company has raised more than $50,000 for the cause in 2013 alone.

Most recently, during the company's annual National Conference held aboard Allure of the Seas , attendees dressed from head to toe in pink and walked around the ship's jogging track in support of raising awareness for finding a cure for breast cancer. With personal donations and pledges from family, friends, peers as well as corporate contributions from Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, Azamara Cruises, Westjet Vacations and Expedia CruiseShipCenters, the onboard initiative raised more than $15,000.

"This walk is a fantastic opportunity for our Franchise Partners and Consultants to gather together during our annual National Conference to help support breast cancer research across the country," said Matthew Eichhorst, President of Expedia CruiseShipCenters. "In 2013, our organization has raised more than ever before through initiatives that we encourage our Corporate Support staff and franchise locations to participate in. As we continue to grow as an organization, we hope to be able to increase the amount we donate each year."

Other fundraising initiatives that Expedia CruiseShipCenters implements year-round to support breast cancer awareness include the following:

  • Cruise for the Cure: Spearheaded by Expedia CruiseShipCenters Franchise Owner, Barry Foot, the annual Cruise for the Cure donates $50 from each stateroom booked directly to breast cancer research.
