Missouri's First Two Zaxby's Hatch Monday, January 6

New Restaurants to Provide Residents Prepared-at-Order Chicken in a Casual Dining Atmosphere

January 02, 2014 // Franchising.com // Columbia, Mo.- Zaxby's, a Southeast favorite for chicken fingers and wings, and one of the nation's fastest-growing restaurant chains, will open its first two Missouri restaurants in Columbia this Monday. Licensees Taylor Perry, Tracy Perry, Vergil Tudor and Andy Brady will open the Zaxby's location at 1411 Cinnamon Hill Ln., across from The Domain at Columbia Campus apartment complex near the University of Missouri. Licensees Greg and Cheryl Jarvis will open the Zaxby's location at 3922 South Providence Rd., next to the new Orscheln Farm and Home store. The new Zaxby's locations will operate Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

"We're excited to bring Zaxby's to Missouri and are confident that the same quality of food and service the brand is known for will keep area residents coming back for more," said Greg Jarvis. Together, the licensees will split the mid-Missouri market with the opening of four additional locations over the next few years. Two additional locations will open in Columbia, and two new locations will open in Jefferson City. "Zaxby's has built its reputation and loyal following by providing excellent service and great-tasting food, and we plan to carry on that tradition with these new locations."

Zaxby's is a pioneer of the quick-casual format, providing services and amenities that fall somewhere between fast food and a sit-down restaurant. At the new restaurant, customers will place their orders at the counter and will be called to pick up their prepared-at-order meals when they are ready. Zaxby's also offers drive-thru services to meet the needs of customers on the go.

Tracy Perry believes the restaurants - from the atmosphere to the service - will exceed community expectations. "We've assembled a great group of team members who will deliver on the Zaxby's mission to 'consistently create encore experiences that enrich lives one person at a time,'" said Perry.

Co-founders and childhood friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley opened the first Zaxby's restaurant in Statesboro, Ga., in 1990. Since then, the chain has progressively grown throughout the Southeast. The company opened its first Texas location in March of 2008, expanded into Indiana with its first location opening in February 2010, and moved into Louisiana in July of 2012.

The Athens, Ga.-based chain now operates more than 595 locations in 14 states - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

An alternative to fast food, Zaxby's offers prepared-at-order chicken fingers, wings, sandwiches and salads. Zaxby's most popular items are its hand-breaded Chicken Fingerz and Traditional or Boneless Wings, smothered in a choice of nine sauces with names like Wimpy, Tongue Torch, Nuclear and Insane.

The menu also offers innovative Zappetizers like Tater Chips, Spicy Fried Mushrooms and Fried White Cheddar Bites, as well as a variety of Party Platterz perfect for any family gathering or special occasion.

Zaxby's also offers four salads, or Zalads: The House, The Blue, The Caesar and its newest addition The Cobb. All of Zaxby's Zalads offer more chicken, unique ingredients, such as French-fried onions, fresh veggies and juicy tomatoes, and are larger than most salads offered elsewhere. Each is prepared with chicken, three kinds of lettuce and a variety of toppings. Zalads are assembled at the time the order is placed, versus being pre-made and stored in a cooler.

Additionally, Zaxby's offers a new line of premium milkshakes including the popular Birthday Cake and Banana Pudding Milkshakes and the new Chocolate Cookie Milkshake. They are rich and creamy, hand-blended, and are topped with whipped cream.
