Pacific Divorce Management Announces Special Topics Course on Divorce Financial Planning at Texas Tech University

Justin Reckers, Company CEO Offers Two-day Course Delving into the Financial Intricacies of Divorce

SAN DIEGO - Jan. 3, 2014 // PRNewswire // - Pacific Divorce Management, a national leader in financial planning and analysis for divorce, has announced a two-day course led by Justin Reckers, CFP®, CDFA™, and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Divorce Management, to be hosted by the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas on January 24-25, 2014. The two-day course is titled "Financial Intricacies of Divorce and Introduction to Strategies for Assisting Individuals and Couples During and After a Divorce."

During this 12-hour course financial planning students and advisors will learn a niche business model that represents a growing trend of specialization in the financial advisory industry. Reckers will provide instruction on the financial intricacies of divorce, strategies for advising clients and unlocking the competitive advantage of specialization in financial advisory services.

"My motivation for offering this course to current advisors and students is to provide thought leadership in the financial intricacies of divorce, as well as impressing upon future planners the value of pursuing a niche market in the financial planning industry," says Reckers, whose company announced a turn-key franchise opportunity in divorce financial planning at the end of 2013. "After graduating from a similar financial planning program during my studies at Ohio State, I see the importance of inspiring future planners to create their own niche practices."

Divorce, which affects 2,000,000 people in the United States every year, is the largest financial transaction of most people's lives set amidst one of the most emotionally chaotic times of those lives. If a couple never had children or their children are grown, money is the only thing to argue about in the divorce proceedings.

While legal advisers offer the structure and guidance necessary to fashion agreements, Divorce Financial Planning exists at the intersection of expert financial analysis, financial planning, and decision coaching with the unique and complicated financial intricacies of divorce in mind. Divorce Financial Planners offer the creative options, financial analysis and strategies necessary to ensure clients obtain the most financially advantageous settlement possible and transition into post-divorce life with a game plan for financial success.

"We're pleased that Mr. Reckers will be presenting in our class this spring. This will be a great opportunity for our students to learn about an important aspect of planning that is not generally part of the core curriculum. Providing instruction on special topics, such as divorce planning, from industry leaders helps ensure that our students are on the cutting edge of key issues faced by today's planners," according to Dr. Chris Browning, Assistant Professor in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Texas Tech. Students will be expected to have a basic understanding of financial planning process, tax, estate-planning and investment products before signing up for the class.

According to its website, Pacific Divorce Management's mission is to provide divorce financial planning services that focus on long-term well-being; the focus is to mitigate the devastating financial effects that are often the result of divorce. Reckers believes that the financial decisions made during a divorce will very likely be the biggest and most difficult decisions the parties will ever make.
