January 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // KENOSHA, Wisc. – Birchwood Foods in Kenosha, Wisc. has been named Supplier of the Year by Unified Supply Chain, Inc. (USCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ).
Birchwood Foods has partnered with the Dairy Queen® system for 38 years. In 2013, Birchwood Foods worked closely with the DQ® system on several successful cost saving strategies as the supplier of its ground beef patties.
"It is through partners like Birchwood Foods that the Dairy Queen system can continue to roll out innovative new products, such as the DQ $5 Buck Lunch that launched in 2013," said Roger Hubbard, Chief Supply Chain Officer for USCI. "With the Supply Chain Council’s input, Birchwood Foods implemented a program to help control beef cost which was instrumental for the successful roll out of the $5 Buck Lunch value meal."
To become Supplier of the Year, a company must demonstrate outstanding performance for delivery and support for franchisees. Performance accuracy, order fulfillment, on-time delivery, pricing variances and service follow-up are among the judging criteria.
The Supplier of the Year Award is one of several that USCI annually presents to partners who provide superior service and outstanding support to the more than 4,400 Dairy Queen® and DQ Grill & Chill® locations in the United States.
