January 09, 2014 // Franchising.com // Charlotte, North Carolina - Pat Swisher closed a deal with The William Gaston Fund, a private equity fund that invests in small companies that have the capacity to grow rapidly from local or regional companies to national or international companies, on January 2nd, completing the buyout of Swisher’s partner Dean Lovett. The William Gaston Fund is managed by Gaston Capital LLC, and the fund has been highly successful in funding and growing small businesses for the past six years. Enviro-Master has agreed to the appointment of two managers selected by the fund to serve on the company’s Board of Managers. These will include Michael K. McMahan and David K. Robb, who along with McMahan is a founding member of Gaston Capital Partners.
According to Mr. McMahan, "What I like about the Enviro-Master franchise model is that it provides entrepreneurs an opportunity to build and own successful businesses. The success of the company lies in making other people successful. This is an essential aspect of what Gaston Capital Partners is all about. We believe that the best way to create wealth is through the long-term ownership of a growing and profitable business." Specifically, McMahan commented, "Enviro-Master meets all of the criteria we have found that lead to successful investments in small businesses. Pat Swisher, the CEO of the company, has managed a larger company in this space; he is a leader who has built a good team for moving the company forward. The company has proven it can operate on a national basis with 22 franchises already in place. The company is profitable and does not need large amounts of additional working capital. There is a great amount of excitement about the growth possibilities for the company and we look forward to being a part of future successes," McMahan added.
Michael K. (Mick) McMahan is the founder and Managing Partner of Gaston Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Gastonia, North Carolina. He has more than thirty-five years experience managing investment portfolios and working with small businesses. He has been listed as a top-ranked Charlotte-area financial advisor by the Charlotte Business Journal and in Barron’s as one of the top 100 independent financial advisors in the country. Mick is a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Vietnam War, where he attained the rank of Captain and was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal for his outstanding service. He holds a BA with Honors in Economics and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and he has numerous certifications and continuing education in financial planning and investment management. Mick is the author of four books: A Breach of Faith (1996); Confessions of a Preacher’s Kid (2001); An Act of War (2013) and Saving Hope (spring 2014). He is a volunteer; teaches a Sunday school class; is a VIP blood donor, and he is an active grandfather of four children, the father of two and husband of 46 years to his high school sweetheart, Carla.
"The William Gaston Fund is a good fit for our company at this juncture of our growth, and I think we have the best possible partners to move forward," remarked Pat Swisher, President and CEO of Enviro-Master and considered to be the founder of the Hygiene Industry. "I appreciate the contributions of my former partner Dean Lovett and wish him well as he moves on to future adventures," Swisher added.
