January 10, 2014 // Franchising.com // BURLINGTON, Vt. – Bruegger’s Bagels brings big flavor to its winter menu, featuring ingredients like andouille sausage and Sriracha mustard in new sandwiches available now through April 8.
Flavors of New Orleans are featured in The Big Easy, a new breakfast sandwich made with eggs and the Cajun favorite, andouille sausage, which Bruegger’s Bagels takes up a notch with spicy Sriracha mustard and green peppers.
The traditional turkey sandwich also gets a kick of flavor with winter’s new lunchtime sandwich. Turkey with a Twist packs a combination of sweet and savory, bold and mild – starting with turkey, cheddar and apple slices, and adding Sriracha mustard and pickled onions for the "twist." All-natural, 100 percent made-in-Vermont seasonal favorite Maple Cream Cheese pulls it all together.
"We wanted to create a menu that chases away winter doldrums and sparks our guests’ taste buds," said Bruegger’s Bagels Executive Chef Philip Smith. "We’ve done that by offering interesting new tastes and ingredients alongside familiar seasonal favorites."
The new flavor combinations were inspired by the popularity of Bruegger’s Bagels’ Sriracha Egg sandwich, introduced in April 2013, and a nod to what restaurant consultant group Baum & Whiteman deems the "new wave of Asian flavors (and menu items) upon us." The Sriracha mustard, made with horseradish, dried tarragon, mustard and Sriracha, is a sweet/hot condiment made fresh in the bakeries and available on any menu item.
The season also marks the return of popular French Toast coffee and the introduction of the health-conscious Sesame Whole Wheat bagel, just in time for New Year’s resolutions. Though innovative flavors abound, Bruegger’s Bagels never strays from its time-tested authentic New York-style bagels, baked fresh in each location.
