WACO, Texas (Jan. 17, 2014) – Rainbow International, a subsidiary of The Dwyer Group, announced the appointment of Mark Welstead as president of Rainbow International, a global franchise company providing residential and commercial cleaning services.
Welstead has served as vice president of operations for Rainbow International since August 2012 and succeeds Rob White, who resigned to take another opportunity closer to his family in Virginia.
Prior to coming to The Dwyer Group, Welstead was chief financial officer for several manufacturing companies and a commercial general contractor. He has also served as a business consultant for a number of service-related companies including commercial roofing and commercial and residential HVAC contracting.
Mike Bidwell, president and chief operating officer of The Dwyer Group, said Welstead's appointment as president of Rainbow International – the oldest of The Dwyer Group's seven service-based franchise brands – speaks to the company's health and positive trajectory.
"Mark is relatively new to The Dwyer Group and Rainbow International but has quickly made his mark as a proven leader," Bidwell said. "With his background in finance and business, Rainbow International franchisees will be assured of solid leadership decisions and continued growth in the future."
Recalling Welstead's initial hiring in 2012, White said Welstead stood head and shoulders above other candidates because of his overall knowledge of business and empathy for people in a small business role – attributes which made him a successful vice president.
"Mark has a great deal of business experience and he has been able to apply that experience to the restoration industry with Rainbow International," White said. "Mark has done a great job of leading Rainbow International and he will easily transition to the role of president. Rainbow International has a great team in place and with Mark as president, the team will only get better."
Welstead said his vision as president of Rainbow International is to both strengthen the successful foundation established by White and continue to grow and expand the company's worldwide footprint.
"Rob has instilled the awareness and the desire among our corporate team to support and help franchisees succeed in any way possible," Welstead said. "I want to take those beliefs and continue to allow the company to grow. Filling his shoes will be no easy task and I look forward to taking on those challenges as the president of Rainbow International."
Welstead, who received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Baylor University, lives in Waco with his wife, Carol. Their son Matt and wife Emmalie live in Waco and are expecting their second son in March. Daughter Melissa lives in San Antonio.
