Wingstop Awards High School Scholar Athlete of the Month

Kaylan Brumfield of Arlington Heights HS in Arlington named December Athlete of the Month

January 27, 2014 // Franchising.com // DALLAS, Texas – Wingstop nominates Kaylan Brumfield as its fifth 2013-14 school year High School Scholar Athlete of the Month, a program also sponsored by KTVT-TV CBS.

Each month, Wingstop and Dallas' CBS 11 invite viewers, athletic directors, coaches and members of the community to nominate exceptional athletes from the Metroplex to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Wingstop. As a student of Arlington Heights High School in Arlington, Kaylan was selected in December for her exceptional athletic ability and academic achievements. The scholarship initiative was launched two years ago by the Wingstop D-FW co-op, which includes more than 75 restaurants throughout the North Texas region.

"It is an encouragement to see a well-rounded scholar and athlete such as Kaylan, who is an active leader in her community that continues to perform exceptionally well at school," said Wingstop D-FW Advertising Co-op President Rex Heckelman. "This scholarship is more than just giving back, but it's intended to acknowledge the hard-working students like Kaylan, who has certainly deserved this honor."

As a varsity cheerleader with two jobs, Kaylan manages her 300-plus hours of community service as a youth leader at her church, serving as president of the girls service group. Along with several extracurricular activities, Kaylan is enrolled in honors courses and has maintained a 4.0-plus GPA throughout her high school career.
