Dryer Vent Wizard Fundraiser Benefits Child Burn Survivors

National Franchise Makes Second Annual Donation to Children's Burn Foundation

DETROIT, MI - (Marketwired - Feb 3, 2014) - Dryer Vent Wizard (DVW) recently presented a donation of $7,330 to the Children's Burn Foundation to help support the non-profit's programs that provide educational, medical and psychological care for children burned in fires. The monies were raised during DVW's second annual fundraiser in October to recognize National Fire Prevention month.

"We are honored to have Dryer Vent Wizard as our partner in support of child burn survivors," said Carol Horvitz, executive director of Children's Burn Foundation. "In addition, this company is helping to ensure that homes are protected from dryer fires and children are kept safe from burn injuries."

During October, DVW franchisees gave out wristbands with the company's slogan "Prevent a Fire, Clean Your Dryer" in exchange for donations, and several franchises contributed a dollar from each completed customer service visits. Franchisees also partnered with local fire departments throughout the U.S. and Canada to give safety tips and demonstrate dryer vent cleaning services.

"Our franchisees' participation throughout North America helped us to increase our contribution to Children's Burn Foundation by more than 50 percent during this second annual campaign," said Terry Reuer, CEO of DVW. "These efforts also helped to raise public raise awareness about fire safety."

It is estimated that poorly maintained or clogged dryer vents are the leading cause of appliance fires, resulting in more than 15,500 dryer fires every year. These are only the reported cases.
