Morgan Burns Recognized as 2013 Minnesota Attorney of the Year

February 26, 2014 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis - Morgan Burns, partner in Faegre Baker Daniels' corporate practice, has been named a 2013 Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer.

The publication recognized lawyers who distinguished themselves in 2013 through leadership in the profession, involvement in major cases, excellence in corporate or transactional services, and service to the judicial system in Minnesota.

Burns was recognized for his outstanding client service and consistent success with mergers and acquisitions and capital markets deals. The total value of his work in both categories totals more than $2 billion for 2013.

In 2013, Burns represented H.B. Fuller Co. in its acquisition of a Brazilian company, assisted in the sale of Enstratius to Dell, represented FICO in acquiring Infoglide and CR Software, and helped Archer Daniels-Midland in divesting its investment in a Mexican company. Other notable deals from the year involved companies including Northern Oil and Gas, Piper Jaffray, The Dolan Company and Polaris Industries.

In Burns' profile in Minnesota Lawyer, he explained that M&A is "in his genetic makeup," as a third-generation business attorney. "My dad always said that to be a great attorney, you have to be fearless but not careless, and that's what I try to do," Burns said. "I really do wake up every day thinking about how our clients can move their business forward."

Minnesota Lawyer published a Feb. 24 special section featuring profiles of each honoree, which is available online to subscribers.
