Nixon Peabody Partner Gerry Leone Joins Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign Honorary Committee

March 07, 2014 // Franchising.com // Boston, MA - An honorary committee member of Massachusetts' White Ribbon Day Campaign, Nixon Peabody Government Investigations and White Collar Defense partner Gerry Leone will join men and boys across the Bay State in the White Ribbon movement to end violence against women. Thursday, March 6, marks the seventh annual Massachusetts White Ribbon Day. The committee will join chair, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, at a State House event on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., inviting men and boys to take the Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Pledge and wear the ribbon that day. White Ribbon Day gives men and boys the opportunity to take a public stand against violence against women and to promote healthy masculinity as a positive means to support peaceful and healthy communities.

As White Ribbon Day Campaign chairperson, Governor Patrick will actively engage men and boys to join him in making both a private and public commitment to be part of this prevention effort in the coming months. "As governor, as a father and as a husband, I am proud to serve as this year's chair of the Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Campaign," said Governor Patrick. "Violence against women is a violation of all of our human rights and it will take the voices of each one of us to end that violence."

The 2014 White Ribbon Day Honorary Committee is made up of former co-chairs of previous campaigns and other men who have shown leadership on these issues. "I'm proud to be on the White Ribbon Day Committee as we work to end violence against women," said Gerry. "As former Middlesex County district attorney, I spent much of my time educating teenagers about the dangers of domestic violence."

A strong advocate for those impacted by domestic violence, Gerry has served as a White Ribbon Day ambassador for many years and previously served as a co-chair with Massachusetts first lady Diane Patrick. Gerry was honored in four events last fall during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. At Nixon Peabody, Gerry conducts internal and governmental investigations for public and private clients and provides valuable and strategic advice regarding corporate governance, regulations and compliance matters and engages in various forms of litigation defense. He represents and protects the reputations of public, private, nonprofit and for-profit clients in civil and criminal internal matters, while managing and resolving these highly sensitive matters and inquiries discretely, efficiently and effectively.
