New DQ Grill & Chill® Restaurant Opens in Savannah

New restaurant serves up Dairy Queen® iconic soft-serve treats, flavorful foods and Orange Julius® offerings.

March 6, 2014 - SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Dairy Queen® system proudly announces the opening of a new DQ Grill & Chill® restaurant at 3009 Skidaway Road in Savannah. The 2,612 square-foot DQ Grill & Chill® restaurant has added 50 new jobs, contributing to Savannah's employment growth. The new restaurant also will contribute to the state's restaurant sales which, according to the National Restaurant Association, are projected to increase by almost 4 percent this year.

"We are excited to open the newest DQ Grill & Chill restaurant in Savannah and welcome the community in to enjoy our full menu of delicious food items, cool treats and Orange Julius® Premium Fruit Smoothies, Light Smoothies and Julius® Original drinks," said Director of Operations for Hodges Management Company, Dana Sanders. The company also operates four additional DQ Grill & Chill locations. "This new restaurant is sure to become a location where families and friends can gather to share smiles and stories over a great meal and treats."

An Array of Menu Options

The DQ Grill & Chill concept blends the best of DQ® iconic history with the most modern innovations in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry. In addition to breakfast items such as pancakes, biscuits and gravy and breakfast sandwiches, the food menu features the quarter and half-pound GrillBurgerTM made to order, as well as other delicious and unique food items, including deli-style Iron Grilled Sandwiches. Other menu offerings include Grilled or Crispy Chicken Sandwiches and Salads; Chicken Strip Baskets; Shrimp Baskets; Quesadillas and Chili Cheese Dogs.

The DQ system's value meal, $5 Buck Lunch, is available daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at participating locations. Fans have a choice of a quarter-pound GrillBurger with cheese, 3-piece Chicken Strip Lunch or a Chili Cheese Dog, which are all served with fries, a beverage and choice of a sundae. For just $1 more, fans also will have the option to upgrade their small sundae to a small Blizzard® Treat. The offer may vary in Texas.

Complementing the "Grill" is the "Chill," with the traditional and indulgent Dairy Queen soft-serve treats everybody knows and loves. Along with all of the DQ favorites, such as the signature Blizzard Treats, MooLatté® frozen blended coffee beverages, DQ Cakes and waffle bowl sundaes and cones, fans can choose from a variety of Orange Julius fruit-blended beverages. All Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies, Light Smoothies and Julius Original drinks are available in eight flavors including Orange, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Tripleberry®, Mango Pineapple, Berry Pomegranate, OrangeBerry and Piña Colada and protein or banana boosts can be added. The Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies are made fresh to order with real fruit blended with low-fat yogurt. The Orange Julius Light Smoothies are 170 calories or less in a small size, contain no artificial sweeteners or flavors and are yogurt free.

Design and Décor

The DQ Grill & Chill restaurant interior brings an innovative dimension to QSR dining. Highlighted by the modern open-air grill and separate "Grill" and "Chill" sections, the restaurant features comfortable booths and large wooden tables, warm lighting, music and an overall inviting environment.

The restaurant can seat 70 guests inside, 20 outside and also offers a convenient drive-thru window.
