International Franchise Johnny Rockets Celebrates Further Expansion into Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula

Galerias Mérida Location Marks 20th Restaurant Opening in Mexico over Last Two Decades

April 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // Aliso Viejo, Calif. – Just two months after Johnny Rockets opened at Mérida International Airport, the rapidly expanding international franchise is proud to announce its second restaurant in the bustling capital city. The Galerias Mérida opening furthers the brand’s reach into Mexico, a country with one of the world’s most rapidly expanding economies.

The 1,798-square-foot location is situated in the heart of Galerias Mérida, an upscale two-story shopping mall located less than 20 minutes from the city’s international airport. Johnny Rockets is the latest addition to the mall’s roster of more than 75 retailers and restaurants. The location provides shoppers with a relaxed setting to enjoy the global franchise’s customizable hamburgers, crispy American fries, hand-spun shakes and signature sandwiches – all made in front of your eyes.

Johnny Rockets Guadalajara Group brought Johnny Rockets to the mall after seeing a growing need for further expansion in the largest city of the Yucatán Peninsula. With a population of nearly one million, Mérida also serves as the cultural and financial epicenter of Yucatán, drawing a steady flow of visitors throughout the year. Galerias Mérida is the fourth Johnny Rockets location for Johnny Rockets Guadalajara Group who also operate three franchises in the Mexican state of Jalisco.

The Galerias Mérida opening comes amid two decades of the brand’s success in Mexico, with multiple thriving mall locations spanning much of the country. Johnny Rockets’ trademark high-energy dancing servers and decades-spanning music have already proven to be an ideal fit in the vibrant city where both music and dancing play a vital role in day-to-day life.

Two additional Johnny Rockets locations are scheduled to open in Mexico later this year – one in Chihuahua and another in Mexico City.
