Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers to Open in Mt. Dora, Fla., on Monday, April 7

Handcrafted pizzas, history dating back to World War II and disc golf are just a few reasons to add Mellow Mushroom Mt. Dora to your must-see list.

April 07, 2014 // Franchising.com // Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers is proud to announce their newest opening in Mt. Dora, Fla., on Monday, April 7, at 18221 US Hwy 441, next to the First Green Bank.

The owners of this location, C. Michael LaRoe, Kenneth E. LaRoe and Dave Weyn M.D., are thrilled to bring the excitement and energy of Mellow Mushroom to the Mt. Dora community. “Mellow Mushroom provides not only great food and a family friendly environment, but it will also be the perfect hangout spot for the community of Mt. Dora,” states Michael.

The menu features a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers, using only the highest quality of ingredients. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids and those on a gluten free plan are also available.

Each Mellow is designed in a unique art filled environment, and, but in this case, the art is especially poignant for the owners because it uses metal scrap from their family’s historic Florida machine shop. In addition to farming their 40 acre orange grove, the family operated a small machine shop for equipment maintenance. At the start of World War II, aircraft contractors supplying the military could not produce some of the specialty gears and drives needed, so the LaRoe family became part of a small collective of private shops doing their part for the war effort.

Rummaging through the family’s acres of vintage tractors and machine parts coalesced into some unique assemblies such as a jellyfish chandelier and a service station wall top. Mural panels with raised objects illustrating Mt. Dora landmarks and a stylized orange juice production line are just a few other eye capturing Floridian pieces throughout this Mellow.

A feature patio table constructed from found objects, sculpted by Jason Wood, with mismatched shop stools adds character to the exterior. Look for life sized versions of Mellow’ character Robo Mel and even a Captain Jack Sparrow to create our biggest hit on your Instagram feed.

This location features a full service bar with a wide array of liquor, craft beer and wine options. Nine holes of disc golf will be available in the surrounding area, along with an extended Direct TV package for your viewing pleasure.
