Pro Long Driver Shares Five Tips to Increase Driving Distance

OMAHA, Neb. - April 8, 2014 // GLOBE NEWSWIRE // - Professional long-drive golfer and Complete Nutrition brand advocate Richard Moore won the Endless Summer Invitational Long Drive Event on March 31 in Costa Mesa, Calif., his first victory as a professional. Moore, who competes under the nickname RichE, bested the elite field of competitors by driving the ball 373 yards.

En route to becoming the champion, Moore surpassed the likes of well-known long drive golfers, including 2012 World Long Drive Champion Ryan Winther and two-time World Long Drive Champ David Mobley.

"Physically and mentally, I'm at the top of my game," said Moore. "It's not an overstatement to say I wouldn't be here without the help of Complete Nutrition. Throughout my journey to transform my body, Complete Nutrition never sold me products, they gave me solutions."

Moore partnered with Complete Nutrition last year after consultants at a Complete Nutrition store in Denver helped him through a dramatic weight-loss transformation that led to improvements in his health and golf game. Following a comprehensive diet, exercise, nutrition and rest/hydration plan designed by Complete Nutrition, Moore lost 80 lbs. and 25 percent body fat in a little more than a year. In addition to dropping weight, Moore, 26, increased his average long drive by more than 30 yards and improved his swing speed from 125 to 145 mph with the help of Complete Nutrition.

When Moore's on the course or driving range, he boosts his performance with Prime Drive, an energy and weight-loss powder that keeps him focused during long competitions and practice, and 3Plenish, an intra-workout drink mix that helps increase endurance, power and performance.

Moore, whose longest drive is 475 yards, offers these tips to increase driving distance:

  • Long and Slow Takeaway - Taking the club back as low as possible for as long as you can results in a wide swing arc that delivers maximum power.
  • Stay Wide - Widen your backswing to deliver more rotational force, keeping hands as far above head as possible at the top of the swing.
  • Stretch - And stretch daily. Moore suggests stretching hips and shoulders daily for at least a minute.
  • Tee High - Teeing the ball higher will encourage an upward swing motion at impact.
  • Accurate not Hard - Focus on making solid contact with the ball versus swinging harder. Aim for the sweet spot.
