Project Pie to Bring Pizza Quickie Experience to Indianapolis

Fast-Casual Pizza Franchise Inks Deal for Five New Restaurants Throughout Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - April 15, 2014 // GLOBE NEWSWIRE // - Soon, when Hoosiers are in the mood for a pizza quickie, they'll have five locations to satisfy them. Project Pie, known for everyday artisan pizza custom-built by you, will introduce the build-your-own-pizza experience across Indianapolis through a franchise deal that is set to bring a total of five new restaurants to the area over the next four years.

The new restaurants will be owned and operated by local entrepreneur Luke Angermeier and his two business partners. Together the group has 20 years combined experience operating and investing in successful, nationally recognized franchised restaurants. The first Project Pie in Indianapolis is slated to open on the north side of the city later this year.

"We are excited to change the typical pizza experience in Indianapolis by offering artisan-quality pizza that is affordable, fast and fundamentally different than anything else in the city," said Angermeier. "The days of spending large amounts of time and money for great pizza and a unique dining experience are over. We are also thrilled to bring at least 75 new jobs to the city in the next four years."

Project Pie has perfected the pizza quickie - every custom-built pizza is cooked in two minutes in a high-temperature, stone-hearth oven and served to the guests in less than five minutes from the time of their order.

Project Pie is driving menu and pricing innovation within the segment by offering a wide variety of toppings while charging the same price whether a pizza has two toppings or 26. The "pre-designed menu" features classic cheese pizza, a prosciutto and caramelized onion pizza and other "white" pizzas that come with no sauce - and customers can customize any creation with gluten-free crust. In addition to pizza, Project Pie also serves salad and homemade desserts. "Project Pie invented the fast-casual pizza segment and we're leading the pack in terms of authenticity and quality," said Founder and CEO James Markham. "We're pumped to bring our brand, our quality, our value proposition and our authenticity to all the awesome people in Indianapolis this year. We know they are going to dig it."

Project Pie, an international franchise, is the brainchild of Markham, the fast-casual pizza visionary who founded the company in 2012 after creating and launching MOD Pizza in Seattle and Pie-ology in Fullerton, Calif.
