Jessica Benson Cox Named an Indiana Up and Coming Lawyer

April 25, 2014 // Franchising.com // Indianapolis - Jessica Benson Cox of Faegre Baker Daniels has been honored as an Up and Coming Lawyer by Indiana Lawyer's 2014 Leadership in Law awards.

Up and Coming Lawyers were selected based on their legal work and professional and community involvement, as well as the characteristics that "shape a good lawyer," Indiana Lawyer's editor noted.

An associate and product liability litigator in FaegreBD's Indianapolis office, Cox regularly defends pharmaceutical and medical device companies in litigation. In a profile of Cox, Indiana Lawyer described her as a "go-to attorney on matters involving medical and science issues." Cox told the publication, "I see myself as the translator who helps to explain the science and medicine to my fellow lawyers, and to the jury. If I can learn it, then I can translate it."

Cox is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech subcommittees of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Section of Litigation. Recently, Cox was selected to co-chair the ABA's inaugural Biotech Legal Symposium, to take place on
June 12, 2014, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The half-day CLE will explore product liability litigation issues facing biotech companies nationally.

Cox is also active in the Indianapolis community. As a member of the Park Tudor Alumni Association Board, she helped create the Park Tudor Women's Network in 2013 to connect women parents, alumni and spouses. Cox also spent several years as a member of the steering committee for Dress for Success Indianapolis' annual fundraiser, Stepping Out in Style.

Cox currently serves on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Indiana Chapter. As co-chair of the JDRF's April 2014 Promise Gala, she helped the organization raise over $648,000 for Type 1 diabetes research.

"I am fortunate to work with clients who make drugs and devices with the power to save lives and change lives, and I feel compelled to do my part to support nonprofits that work to find solutions for people in need of these miracle drugs and devices," Cox told Indiana Lawyer.

Leadership in Law award winners were profiled in a special supplement to Indiana Lawyer on April 24, 2014, and will be honored at a reception on May 1.
