Generational Expert Headlines CRDN International Convention

April 29, 2014 // Franchising.com // Berkley, MI - Nearly 300 franchisees from across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. participated in the biennial International Convention of CRDN (the Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network) at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa in Phoenix this month, matching the organization’s record attendance.

Highlighting the three-day gathering of educational sessions and social events was renowned generational expert, Cam Marston, president of Generational Insights.

"Most leaders in the workplace today are members of the Baby Boom generation," said Marston. "Many of them can still remember being told that children should be seen and not heard. It was the way parents raised children back then. Today, though, things have changed. The Baby Boomers are now the parents of the youngest members of our workplace, born since 1980. They’re known as the Millennials or Generation Y and the chances are this young generation has never heard that they should be seen and not heard. The Boomers changed parenting methods and added Amber Alerts, No Child Left Behind, and began spending ‘quality time’ with their children. Has this change impacted the way our workplaces function? Yes, in so many ways," Marston said.

Marston’s message clearly enlightened everyone in the audience, as they learned the differences among the generational types, how each views life and how communication varies dramatically with the perspective of each group.

"We were very pleased to host Cam as an integral part of our Convention," said Wayne Wudyka, CRDN’s founder and CEO. "He brought tremendous value and had a significant impact on how we view those inside our business as well as our clients. The educational material we presented over three days was strengthened by having Cam on our team," Wudyka added.

The event, which featured general sessions, breakout discussions and evening social events, concluded with a black tie awards gala where the organization’s leading franchisees and sales professionals were honored for their accomplishments in 2013.

"The awards gala is always a special part of our event," said Wudyka. "It’s personally rewarding to see the hard work of our dedicated members acknowledged in front of their peers. Saluting the achievements of these premier drycleaners and their teams is a fitting conclusion to a memorable and meaningful time together.
