Philanthropic Movers Collect and Donate Gifts to Women's and Family Shelters for Mother's Day

LANSING, Mich. - April 28, 2014 // PRNewswire // - TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the industry's leading moving service franchise, continues to prove itself as a company committed to giving back to their communities as it launches its seventh annual Movers for Moms® campaign. Leading up to Mother's Day, all 270 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations across the U.S. will collect donations to deliver to local women's and family shelters by Sunday, May 11.

Movers for Moms® is an annual campaign dedicated to providing essential items to local shelters, schools and other community organizations. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® garners support from local businesses which either donate items or serve as drop off locations, helping to make Mother's Day memorable for tens of thousands of women living in domestic abuse and homeless shelters throughout the country.

Launching in 2007 with 18 Michigan franchises looking to make an impact on their community, Movers for Moms® has grown to include more participants and partnerships with each passing year. This year and for the first time in the program's history, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® made Movers for Moms® a nationwide campaign involving all 270 locations.

On the heels of a record-breaking year in 2013 with more than 120 participating franchises, 420 schools, 117 shelters, and more than 210,000 collected items, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is confident that its collection in 2014 will significantly exceed previous figures. In 2012, Movers for Moms®almost doubled the number of participating states from 14 to 27, and donated more than 116,000 items to more than 200 schools, daycare centers, and community collection sites.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® ensures their donations make a positive and impactful difference by allowing partnering organizations to submit a wish list of specific items they need. These include soaps, cleaning products, clothing and formula for babies, undergarments, and other basic items.

Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina (FCSNC), a non-profit organization which focuses on assisting pregnant and at-risk girls and women, began partnering with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in 2009 and has since benefited significantly from Movers for Moms®donations.

"Last year, more than 10,000 requested items were donated and distributed to our clients," said Sydney Crouch, Development Associate at FCSNC. "These include baby clothes, blankets, car seats, baby formulas, and diapers and wipes. As a non-profit, small but necessary items such as diapers are hard to afford on a tight budget."
