Wiggin and Dana Awarded Litigation Department of the Year for Government Investigations and Corporate Compliance

May 06, 2014 // Franchising.com // New Haven – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Connecticut Law Tribune's Litigation Department of the Year Award for Government Investigations and Corporate Compliance.

"Our White-Collar practice is comprised of attorneys who have a wealth of government experience and extensive private practice experience handling the most sophisticated matters on behalf of public and privately held entities. You would typically find such an accomplished group only in the largest law firms," comments Joseph Martini, Chair of the firm's White Collar Defense, Investigations and Corporate Compliance Practice Group. "We are happy to be recognized for the successful work we have done for our clients in the past year."

In announcing the award, the Connecticut Law Tribune noted that one of the firm's key strengths is that many of its attorneys have previously worked as federal prosecutors or regulators. The publication also commended the firm's White-Collar Practice on its success in representing clients from a variety of industries, including hedge funds, defense contractors, health care providers, accounting firms and tech firms.

In 2013 alone, the firm convinced the SEC not to pursue charges against Connecticut and New York hedge funds; the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission not to pursue charges against a Connecticut-based securities broker-dealer; and a U.S. Attorney's Office not to pursue criminal charges against a company accused of supplying defective items to the U.S. military.

In recognition of its success in the past year, Wiggin and Dana will be presented with this award at a formal ceremony on May 28, 2014, at The Bond Ballroom in Hartford, Connecticut.
