Jerry May Launches Encore Career with New Business, Fresh Coat Painters

Auburn, AL (PRWEB) May 08, 2014 - Jerry May has always loved house projects, so when he and his family decided it was time for an encore career, the choice was easy – Fresh Coat Painters. May just launched Fresh Coat Painters Auburn, a painting company dedicated to customer service and professional quality.

Before opening Fresh Coat Painters Auburn, May spent 17 years in the newspaper industry and started with the Auburn News in 2004. Although he’s been an award-winning distribution manager, it was time for a change.

"We were at the point where, to grow in my job, we either needed to move or I needed to change careers. We have lived in this community since 2004 and we love it so much that moving just wasn’t an option," he said. "I’ve always enjoyed house projects and one day, while I was painting the dining room, my wife said I should do that for a living. I wasn’t sure I wanted to paint every day, but I it got the wheels turning."

When May began researching potential franchising opportunities, he learned that a friend from college owned a Fresh Coat Painters in Summerville, South Carolina. His friend told him that Fresh Coat Painters was a solid national franchise that would allow him to fill a needed role in the community while growing his individual business in a way that fit his needs.

"I was tired of not having control over my life and my career. The newspaper industry is tough and it’s frustrating to be in a position where there’s not much you can do for your customers or your employees because of the restrictions you face. I’m looking forward to being a business owner and working directly with my clients every day," he said.

May launched the business with the support of his wife Amy and their two children, Sophie and Henry. The family belongs to the Church of the Highland Auburn and excited about becoming more involved in the community.
