LED Source Celebrates its Debut in Antigua

May 13, 2014 // Franchising.com // St. Johns, Antigua - With the disappearance of incandescent light bulbs on the horizon comes the rise of alternative lighting solutions such as light-emitting-diodes, or LEDs. Though LED lighting has steadily increased in demand, the average consumer has no idea where to start when it comes to finding the right products and information, until now. LED Source, a franchised LED lighting solutions concept that specializes in full-scale evaluations and retrofits in the commercial and residential sectors, has debuted in Antigua on Sir George Walter Highway. Franchisee, Robert Shoul and his manager Marcus Franker, are big believers in the concept and look forward to helping the residents of Antigua and Barbuda see the LED light.

"We are excited to become the source for LED lighting here on the island," says Shoul. "There are many business and homeowners wanting to make the switch to LED, but don’t know what they need or who to turn to for guidance. We plan on being the LED lighting solution provider offering a variety of high quality LED lamps and fixtures from leading manufacturers. Whether a retrofit or new construction, our LED lighting Experts are here to help."

Shoul has more than 20 years of experience opening businesses in Antigua and Barbuda. In 1994, he opened Tropic Wear, a Levi’s and Dockers clothing store. That was followed in 1997 by Automotive Art, the Caribbean’s largest auto care retailer. In addition, Shoul owns the only authorized Yamaha dealership in Antigua and the sole distributorship of Frito Lay products on the island.

Shoul saw the emergence of low-cost LED lighting as a perfect way to benefit Antigua and Barbuda from the extremely high cost of energy in the area. Introduced to the LED Source concept from Caribbean master franchisee, Karl Nassief, Shoul knew this was an opportunity he could not pass up.

"Antigua and Barbuda is the perfect island to further expand the LED Source brand," Nassief said. "Backed by a company with almost a decade in the business, we look forward to offering local businesses significant energy savings with quality LED lighting products from leading manufacturers."

Although the LED lighting market is still in its infancy, the rapid adoption of LED lighting in the U.S. over the next 20 years would reduce electricity demands from lighting by one-third, eliminate 258 million metric tons of carbon emissions, phase out the construction of 40 power plants and create financial savings that could exceed $200 billion.
