IHG's Holiday Inn® Brand Expands in Germany

May 14, 2014 // Franchising.com // InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®), one of the world's largest hotel companies has announced the signing of two more Holiday Inn hotels in Germany: Holiday Inn® Dresden – Am Zwinger and Holiday Inn® Hamburg – HafenCity.

Operating under a franchise agreement Holiday Inn Dresden – Am Zwinger will be managed by All Stars Hotels Management Company and open towards the end of this year. The property will be converted from an office building into a 144-room hotel with five meeting rooms, a gym and an attractive bar and lounge area.

The hotel will occupy a prime city centre location nearby Dresden's old centre, the town's shopping district and the popular Semper Opera. It is well placed to benefit from Dresden's lively cultural events, tourism attractions and corporate business.

Meanwhile Holiday Inn Hamburg – HafenCity will be a newly constructed 265-room hotel operating under a franchise agreement with existing multiple development agreement partner Tristar Hotel und Management GmbH, the group's 6th hotel with IHG. The hotel due to open in the spring of 2017 boasts 600m2 of meeting space and will feature Holiday Inn's signature Open Lobby.

The hotel will be located in one of Europe's largest redevelopment areas – HafenCity neighbourhood. The area previously occupied by old port warehouses has been replaced with newly designed offices, hotels, houses and retail areas. The modern Holiday Inn hotel is set to attract healthy demand from corporate travellers frequenting the new hub as well as local leisure business.
