Lancaster Play It Again Sports® Knocks National Promotion Out of the Park
Play It Again Sports and Rawlings Sporting Goods Give Away 50 Baseball Gloves in 50 Days; Local Store Owner to be Recognized with the Golden Glove Trophy
May 29, 2014 // Franchising.com // MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Over the past few months, Play It Again Sports® and Rawlings Sporting Goods teamed-up for a national promotion called 50 Gloves in 50 Days. During the giveaway, a lucky winner each day received a Rawlings "Heart of the Hide Glove" of their choice (retail value $200). This promotion is part of the Play It Again Sports Everybody Plays campaign, helping players in all sports and at all levels of play get the gear they need to enjoy sports and activities.
With the close of the promotion, Play It Again Sports announces its Lancaster, Pa. location as the most outstanding store performer, signing-up the most contestants - totaling more than 4,000 - for a chance to win in the daily giveaway. As part of this recognition, owner Harold Probst will be presented with the Rawlings Golden Glove trophy on Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. EST, which will be displayed in his store for a year. The Golden Glove award is given annually by Rawlings to Major League Baseball players who have exhibited superior individual fielding performances at each fielding position in both the National League and the American League.
Jeff Pauletti, field operations manager of Play It Again Sports, will be on site at the Lancaster Play It Again Sports for the presentation.
"Harold and his staff were outstanding – it’s the support of teams like his that made this promotion a success, and we’re thrilled to recognize their efforts with a prestigious trophy to show off," said Pauletti, who added that more than 86,000 people enrolled in the giveaway. "Our overall goal with ‘50 Gloves in 50 Days’ was to bring the opportunity of playing baseball to anyone interested in picking up a mitt and digging out a grounder or catching a fly. Due to all the support we had in-stores and the partnership with Rawlings, we were able to do just that for the lucky 50."
In addition to the presentation of the Golden Glove trophy to Lancaster team, there will be an all-day celebration on Saturday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the local community, including guest appearances by the Philadelphia Phillies’ Von Hayes and Bob Boone as well as door prizes provided by Rawlings, Mizuno, Franklin, Wilson and $500 worth of Play It Again Sports gift cards.
