Zippy Shell USA, LLC Announces Merger with Zippy Shell International

May 29, 2014 // Franchising.com // Washington, D.C. – Zippy Shell USA, LLC is pleased to announce the company has merged with Zippy Shell International, LLC. Zippy Shell International, LLC was the entity that owned the worldwide rights for the Zippy Shell system, including being the master franchisor for Zippy Shell USA, LLC.

Gareth Taylor, the former Managing Director and Founder of Zippy Shell International, LLC has accepted the position of President at Zippy Shell USA, LLC at the company’s corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C. Rick Del Sontro, formerly President of Zippy Shell USA, LLC, will move into the position of Chief Executive Officer.

"Combining the two entities will make a much stronger entity in the long run and allow Zippy Shell to continue on its rapid expansion," Taylor said. "Rick and I have always shared a similar vision for the business and the realization of this vision is now more prevalent than ever."

With this agreement, Zippy Shell USA, LLC will now take over as the owner of the worldwide rights of Zippy Shell, including all intellectual property previously owned by Zippy Shell International.

"From the Zippy Shell USA, LLC perspective, we’re excited about the transaction," Del Sontro said. "First, we believe that long term that are great benefits to Zippy Shell USA now own the rights worldwide and controlling our own destiny here in the U.S. Additionally, we now have Gareth here, working out of the corporate office on a full-time basis. This will provide us with significant resources to really accelerate the growth of the business."

Overall, the Zippy Shell® franchise system has grown to 43 corporate and franchisee locations across the nation. It has also become one of the fastest growing mobile self-storage businesses and can be found in 78 different territories throughout the United States. This merger with Zippy Shell International will pave the way for the expansion of franchisee locations across the globe. Currently, Zippy Shell USA, LLC is in talks with parties in a few countries to expand the Zippy Shell® footprint internationally.
