Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 - This week, as the countdown to the $1 billion goal begins, the world's largest junk removal company recorded it's single largest day of calls and online visitors in its 25-year history. Against a monthly goal of $14.4M, the company is set to rake in $15.2M this May, a clear indicator that North Americans are buying, collecting, amassing, and purging...a great deal.
"We haven't seen this sort of growth since before the economic recession," says 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Founder and CEO Brian Scudamore. "We're close to 25% above the same time last year, and franchise partners in three countries are working hard to keep up with the demand."
That demand has been consistent since Brian Scudamore, known as the pioneer of today's professional junk removal industry, franchised in 1999. Even during the economic downturn, the company rebounded steadily after two years of losses. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? expects to reach $1 billion in cumulative revenue (since 1999) some time in the first week of June.
The explosive growth of the junk removal industry in recent years begs the question: what happens to all of that junk? 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has a ticker on its website that calculates billions of pounds or kilograms diverted from the landfill. Today that ticker reads 2.59 billion pounds.
"More than 60 percent of the unwanted items we collect from homes and businesses is recycled, donated, or re-used," explains Scudamore, who adds, "We have a goal to increase that diversion rate to 75% by 2016."
Brian Scudamore has ventured into other home services in recent years, developing a unique painting concept called WOW 1 DAY Painting and a local moving service - You Move Me - which promises to make moving almost fun.
