Embassy Suites Charlotte Uptown Breaks Ground Upscale Hotel Chain Begins Construction on new Charlotte Site
June 06, 2014 // Franchising.com // McLEAN, Va. – Embassy Suites Hotels and developer BPR Properties announced that construction has begun on a 250-suite hotel at 401 E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Embassy Suites Charlotte Uptown, scheduled to open in June 2016, will be the ninth Embassy Suites in the state of North Carolina. The full service, all-suites hotel will also feature 7,000 square feet of meeting space and an on-site restaurant.
The ceremonial groundbreaking was attended by approximately 30 guests including City of Charlotte officials and the project development team. Present were: Bhupen Patel, principal, BPR Properties; Birju Patel, president, BPR Properties; Shahn Chhabra, CMC Hotels; Gary Chhabra, CMC Hotels; Alan Roberts, vice president, brand performance support - Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Worldwide; Gary Finnell, senior director, development, Hilton Worldwide; Perry Quick, senior vice president of Carolinas & Georgia, Fifth Third Bank; Mohammad Jenatian, HTA Charlotte.
The Charlotte Uptown property is the first Embassy Suites hotel for BPR Properties, a long-time Hilton Worldwide franchisee partner. It owns and operates properties in other brands within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, including two Hampton Inn properties in Asheboro, N.C., and Statesboro, G.A., as well as one Home2 by Hilton property in Greensboro, N.C. BPR also developed the DoubleTree by Hilton property in Greensboro, N.C. in 2007.

Embassy Suites Charlotte Uptown will reflect the brand’s Design Option III style. The innovative and flexible design features a variety of side-by-side suites, shotgun suites and one-room suites in addition to a contemporary atrium area, decreasing the amount of land needed for a new-build project and creating efficiencies for both construction and operational costs. These features also further enhance the guest experience, as there is a great sense of space and more natural light in guest rooms and public areas like the atrium, while still maintaining all of the offerings that are characteristic of Embassy Suites hotels including free cooked-to-order breakfast and Complimentary Evening Reception*.
