Taziki's Mediterranean Café Expands Franchise Partners

Restaurant Owners Across the Country Receive Awards

June 06, 2014 // Franchising.com // BIRMINGHAM, AL - Taziki's Mediterranean Café, a fast-casual Greek food-inspired chain launched in 1998 and headquartered in Birmingham, recently held its annual Franchisee Conference.

The company, which began franchising in 2012, plans to have 50 locations open or under development by the end of this year.

"Taziki's has had 17 years of solid growth; in that time we have learned what works for our locations," said Keith Richards, Founder and Chief Development Officer of Taziki's. "We have the tools and team in place to offer our franchisors support as they begin their journey to bring Mediterranean flavor to new communities."

Average net sales per location are $1.45 million and average gross profit is $502,000. The company's franchise fee is $25,000 and their royalty fees are 4%.

New franchisees from Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Oklahoma joined the leadership team at the meetings held in Birmingham to learn more about the company's efforts to assist franchisees in restaurant location selection.

The Franchisee Conference also announced growth opportunities, and awards were distributed to owners.

"Establishing a tradition of excellence in a growing brand never comes too early," said Keet.

Dale Wasem of Taziki's Nashville, LLC, was the winner of the President's Award for his pursuit of excellence in operations, innovative ideas, collaboration in improving products and developing "best practices" for the company, and overall commitment to excellence in operations.

The Excellence in Marketing Award went to Charlie Godwin of North Carolina Fast Casual, Inc., in recognition of his active participation in meetings, events, seminars, and local marketing initiatives. His location in Cary, North Carolina experienced a year-over-year sales increase, creation of results-oriented programs and demonstrated a commitment to community involvement.

The West Virginia University location of Taziki's received the Excellence In Sales Growth Award for highest percentage increase in sales, while the Outstanding Sales Achievement Award went to the Nashville West End location for highestincrease in sales, and the Top Sales Achievement for highest gross sales went to Chenal Creek (Little Rock, Arkansas).

Taziki's first Founders Award was given to Tommy Keet and Jake Keet, JTJ Restaurants, LLC. Their team was recognized for demonstrating pride in the brand, passion for excellence, sales leadership, community and charitable involvement, leadership in the franchise community, crew retention and management retention, as well as overall commitment to brand culture.
