Taco John's Opens New Restaurant in Manhattan, KS

June 10, 2014 // Franchising.com // People in Riley County, Kansas, have a new option when they want to eat out. Mexican quick service chain Taco John's® has opened a new restaurant in Manhattan. The new store is located at 214 Leavenworth Street at the cross streets of Leavenworth and KS 24.

"I grew up on Taco John's® and the nearest location is an hour away from Manhattan," says owner Kimberly Jager. "I want people in this town to see how much we love it, try it, and come to enjoy it as much as we do."

The new restaurant has hired more than 50 employees. The normal hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., every day.

During the grand opening on June 2, the line of people waiting to visit the new restaurant wrapped around the building. When the doors opened, the Manhattan employees set a Taco John's® record by serving the first 100 guests in 40 minutes and 23 seconds. By the end of the first day, the new Manhattan crew completed 900 orders, making it three times as busy as a typical day at Taco John's®.

"We waited two and a half years for this opening, and we are so glad it was a success," says Jager. "We promise Manhattan we will always have outstanding food and customer service."

The first 100 guests on opening day received "Golden Tickets." The tickets allow the winners to have one order of free Potato Olés® every day for one year at the Manhattan Taco John's®.
