New Five Star Painting Franchise Opening in Northeast Columbus

Pilot leaves aviation field to pursue franchise ownership in painting industry.

June 18, 2014 // Franchising.com // COLUMBUS, Ohio – Local resident Jeff Banning is opening a new Five Star Painting franchise in northeast Columbus this month, expanding the reach of Five Star Painting’s professional painting services in the Columbus region.

"Opening a Five Star Painting franchise gives me an opportunity to become more involved in the local community meeting customers and local business owners," Banning said. "I’m excited to provide a professional painting service that meets the needs of all of our residential and commercial clients."

Transitioning from a successful aviation career to franchise ownership, Banning believes his time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds will translate to a great customer experience for Five Star Painting clients. With a bachelor’s degree in airway science from Ohio University, in addition to 20 years of experience piloting airplanes, Banning decided to walk away from a career in aviation in order to pursue a new lifestyle and career path.

"I truly loved my time as a pilot, but now I’m ready to take on a new challenge and opportunity in small business ownership," Banning said. "I look forward to working directly with clients, as opposed to working in the anonymity of a corporation, and can account to myself for the success or failure of my franchise. Owning a local business brings a new opportunity to determine my lifestyle and spend more time with family."

As a national painting company located in various cities across the United States and Canada, Five Star Painting strives to change unfavorable perceptions of the painting contractor by providing professional and dependable painting crews who are clean, on time and respectful of customers’ spaces. Five Star Painting’s mission is to capture customers’ dreams and enhance their lifestyle by adding color to their world.

"Banning is joining a family of franchisees who have all left some part of their lives in order to start a new, exciting chapter in small business management and home improvement services," Five Star Painting CEO Scott Abbott said. "Our franchisees find satisfaction in providing reliable and professional painting services to their community, while adding new color to the lives of their customers."
