Plymouth, MN (PRWEB) June 23, 2014 - Miracle-Ear, a nationwide hearing solution franchise organization, hosted over 200 franchisees and business partners in Dallas, TX for their annual convention last week. The convention consisted of workshops, keynote speakers, and networking events; most notably closing Saturday night with a record breaking auction.
In partnership with the Miracle-Ear Foundation, a Minneapolis based non-profit, the second annual Miracle-Ear Foundation Auction was held to raise funds for underprivileged Americans with hearing loss. Items were donated from Miracle-Ear preferred vendors, franchisees, staff, and from world renowned speaker and graffiti artist, Erik Wahl. After a thought provoking and innovative keynote session, three of the paintings Erik created on stage were donated to the auction.
The paintings, along with other generous donations were the highlight of the live auction, but the last item up for bid was the most exciting: Erik Wahl's Statue of Liberty painting. Two individuals went back and forth outbidding one another until Julie Beall-McKelvey, franchisee from Camp Hill, PA, was the final donor, purchasing it for $21,000.
"Erik Wahl's wiliness to donate his paintings to the Miracle-Ear Foundation was an absolute gift," said Jenni Hargraves, Director of the Miracle-Ear Foundation. "Together all three of the paintings raised $28,250, which far exceeded my expectations."
The Miracle-Ear Foundation Auction rose over $100,000, which is a 123% increase from 2013. All proceeds will go towards providing hearing aids free of cost to underprivileged adults and children across the country, as well as, help spread awareness about the importance of hearing loss conservation.
"The generosity of the Miracle-Ear franchisees was remarkable," said Hargraves. "I am continually amazed that they change lives daily through providing better hearing but then they take it a step further and give the gift of sound to those in need."
The Miracle-Ear Foundation, a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization, supports under served adults and children across the country with their hearing healthcare needs. The Miracle-Ear Foundation, working with Miracle-Ear centers across the country, has donated more than 6,500 hearing aids to over 4,100 individuals nationwide.
