ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ - The Griswold Cares Foundation, a private charity established in 2010, raised close to $30,000 during a fundraising event at Griswold Home Care's 2014 National Conference in May. The fundraiser surpassed its initial goal of raising $20,000 to further advance the Foundation's vision of a future in which all seniors, including those with limited financial means, will have the opportunity to age with dignity in the comfort their own homes.
"The event was a success and raised close to $30,000," said Amanda Sites Hope, Administrator of the Griswold Cares Foundation. "We are thrilled with the success of the events that took place at the conference, and are grateful to everyone who helped the Foundation meet its fundraising goal, and for the generosity of the entire Griswold Home Care family."
Support came from a significant number of conference participants, many of whom are new donors to the Foundation. Instrumental to the success of the event was a $5,000 gift made by Griswold International, as well as a $2,400 gift from Lesley Mills, Director of Griswold Home Care's New Haven, CT branch. Lesley's contribution was in addition to the $5,000 donation she made earlier in 2014. "It's an honor to contribute to an organization with a focus on elders that are so near and dear to our hearts," said Lesley.
All donations will help to fund the Foundation's Grants Program, which supports non-profit organizations that enhance the quality of life for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities who choose to age in place. In 2013, the Foundation was able to use donations from franchisees, friends and family to award $50,000 worth of grants to 34 non-profit organizations across the nation.
Amanda also noted, "Having a part in the conference each year is such an important opportunity for the Foundation and we are very grateful to be included. We enjoyed speaking with so many of the franchise directors and other attendees. It was nice to have had the chance to share some of the impact and success stories that the Foundation had made this past year."
The Griswold Cares Foundation appreciates the generosity of all their friends and supporters. Every dollar donated is used to further their mission to support programs and services that allow seniors to age in place. The Griswold Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private foundation established in 2010, provides grants to select community programs that help people age in place. Those selected for grants help to advance the Foundation's mission of supporting respite and short-term home care services to those in need. For more information please visit www.GriswoldCares.org.
