Children's Leukemia Foundation, Cass Community Social Services to Receive Retailer's Award Of Hope
WARREN, Mich. (August 8, 2014) – Two great events…one fun night! On Friday, August 15 from 6 to 8 p.m., Art Van Furniture will hand out nearly $200,000 in grant checks to six deserving metro Detroit nonprofits at a Woodward Dream Cruise Bash at the retailer's Royal Oak store (32301 Woodward Avenue). Charities in four states rocked around the clock for five consecutive weeks to raise the most money during the 2014 Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge "Challenge Grant Competition." The event will include delicious diner fare, classic oldies music, and a sneak preview of classic cars and hot rods cruising down Woodward.

Art Van Furniture partnered with crowdrise.com, an online fundraising site for charities, on the 2014 Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge "Challenge Grant Competition." A record was set during the five week pledge period for raising the most money during the last day, and the last hour, of any previous challenge on the Crowdrise website. Over $1.2 million was given back to the 55 competing charities focusing on children, health care and human services in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana through the challenge.
Since its inception, the Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge has awarded over $6 million in grants and inspired donations of more than $18 million. A complete list of all 55 winning charities is on artvan.com.
Art Van Furniture's 2014 Award of Hope will also be presented to two of its charity partners.
