Jamba Juice Gives Away Nearly Half a Million Servings of Fruit and Vegetables Nationwide During Its Free Juice Giveaway

Consumers Wait in Long Lines for a Taste of Freshly Squeezed Juice, Illustrating Growing Passion for Healthier Beverages; Almost a Half Million Served in Just Two Hours

EERYVILLE, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Aug. 13, 2014 - Jamba Inc., (NASDAQ:JMBA) a leading healthy active lifestyle brand and the leading retailer of freshly squeezed juice today announced the results of its August "Free Juice Giveaway", during which consumers nationwide were invited to try free samples of the brand’s new freshly squeezed juices. In a two-hour span from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., customers across the country lined up at almost 600 Jamba locations for free cups of great-tasting, made-to-order, juices, blended with nutritious whole foods. Jamba® became the leading retailer of fresh squeezed juice in June when it made the product available in over 500 stores.

During the Free Juice Giveaway event, Jamba gave away 217,000 servings of fruit and 283,000 servings of vegetables, for a total of 499,000 servings to customers. Putting forth a massive effort, Jamba stores averaged over 215 hand-crafted juice samples each in just two hours, or almost two juices blended per minute, with one store giving away more than 780 free juices during that time.

Jamba freshly squeezed juices address the growing consumer trend toward getting more fruits and vegetables into their daily diets through juicing and whole food blending. Jamba blends fresh whole produce like kale, beets, carrots, ginger, orange, apple, pineapple, chia seeds, and wheatgrass into its juices, providing the key nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fiber found in whole produce. The product addresses what Jamba terms as "America’s fruit and veggies deficit", citing a recent USDA survey showing that Americans consumed only 63 percent of the recommended amount of vegetables and only 38 percent of the recommended amount of fruit.

Jamba launched the freshly squeezed juice platform in select stores in May 2013 and continues to expand into additional stores. The Company expects the new platform to be available across the system by early 2015. As of July, 1, 2014, Jamba had 854 locations.
