Demoya Gordon Recognized as a Top LGBT Lawyer Under 40

August 26, 2014 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis - The National LGBT Bar Association named Demoya Gordon of Faegre Baker Daniels to the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 Class of 2014.

The National LGBT Bar annually recognizes LGBT legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.

Gordon, an associate in FaegreBD's product liability group, primarily defends pharmaceutical and medical device companies, managing every phase of complex litigation matters. She also handles trusts and estates litigation.

Gordon has written several summary judgment briefs and motions to dismiss that have led to voluntary dismissal by a plaintiff or court dismissal of a case. She effectively plays a key role in several client relationships. Her excellent writing skills, legal analysis and collaborative work style distinguish her as an outstanding associate.

Gordon devotes significant time to research, individual pro bono representation and volunteering aimed at advancing LGBT rights. She has collaborated with LGBT-focused nonprofits such as the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal, the Transgender Law Center and Out Front Minnesota. Her work has included representing a transgender child facing discrimination at school, preparing a challenge to Minnesota's 2012 anticipated constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, and volunteering with Avenues for Homeless Youth, which houses homeless LGBT young people.

The 2014 Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 class was honored at the Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair on August 23 in New York City.

The National LGBT Bar Association promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT community in all its diversity.
