Popular Burger Restaurant Chain, BurgerFi, is Chosen by Miami Dolphins Fans as their Favorite Restaurant to Open at Sun Life Stadium
NBA star, Mike Miller Also Opens His Own BurgerFi Franchise in Auburn, Alabama, further demonstrating better burgers and sports are natural together.
MIAMI - August 27, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - BurgerFi, one of the fastest growing better burger concepts, known for its fresh, all natural burgers, fries and frozen custard announced today it has signed a five-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. It is a part of a bigger non-traditional real estate strategy to bring fresh, all-natural, hormone-free burgers to stadiums, airports and campuses across the country.
"We're thrilled to open BurgerFi at Sun Life Stadium," said Managing Director, Corey Winograd. "I am a huge sports fan and know how excited people will be to see they now have the opportunity to eat better, all-natural burgers while watching NFL action."
In an effort to offer more quality food options at the stadium, Miami Dolphins President & CEO, Tom Garfinkel not only took to social media, but also sent direct communication to season ticket members this past summer to ask fans for what food they wanted during the 2014-2015 Dolphins games. "The fans were clear in their response, they wanted more local fare and more local flavors," Director of Concessions & Retail Management Ben Metzger said. "BurgerFi is a perfect fit and we're beyond excited to have them at Sun Life Stadium."
BurgerFi opened its first restaurant in Lauderdale by the Sea in 2011. Since then, the burger concept has grown to 54 restaurants nationwide. "We are proud of our roots here in South Florida," said Winograd. "Being the only all-natural burger option invited into the home of the Miami Dolphins is exciting to us. We owe it to our fans for giving us this opportunity."
BurgerFi is no stranger to star athletes, as well. Proving that better burgers and sports go together, NBA pro Mike Miller opened his first BurgerFi in Auburn, Alabama on July 23, 2014. Miller has a strong Florida fan base, formerly playing for the Miami Heat, the Orlando Magic and his college team, the University of Florida.
Pro athletes are a perfect fit for BurgerFi. Not only are they focused on eating better to fuel their bodies, they understand the concept of working hard to achieve better results. "I remember how passionate everyone was at BurgerFi. They're a bunch of smart, hard-working individuals focused on the same goal," said Miller. "BurgerFi is my favorite burger and my favorite team. I'm excited to be a part of it and looking forward to opening 100 BurgerFi restaurants across the country."
As BurgerFi finds a new platform for growth with sports and athletes, the company expects that non-traditional venues like stadiums, airports and campuses will be a strong part of its future. "Our commitment to providing better food is fueling excitement for our growth," said Winograd, "I expect a strong percentage of that growth will be in the non-traditional restaurant segment."
BurgerFi is one of the fastest growing better burger concepts in the U.S. Currently with 54 units open, the franchise is expected to double its size by the end of 2015 as well as expand internationally.
