But, while reading Fortune Magazine as explosions rang in the distance, the Army veteran told Military Transition News that he stumbled upon the article that set him on his next career; franchising.

The article detailed the international success of Founder and CEO of 1-800-GOT-JUNK®, Brian Scudamore. Wilson was inspired by the franchisor's customer-service focus and how 1-800-GOT-JUNK® had professionalized and brought a national brand to the junk removal industry.

Wilson dove into franchising when he returned from Afghanistan, opening a 1-800-GOT-JUNK® franchise in Kansas City. In 2013, Scudamore launched a new venture called You Move Me - a company promising a new spin on the moving industry. Wilson bought in to that as well, opening a location in Tulsa.
