Today, the company announced that the campaign is already proving to be the most successful promotion of 2014. Smashing records, store comparable sales have increased 18 percent per store per week during the first four weeks of the campaign.
Company officials say the lower-than-low price was designed to grab attention and drive new traffic to the stores during the pizza business' challenging summer season. The campaign is generating new traffic and has not cannibalized existing business on non-promotion days, says Andrew Gamm, brand director for Pizza Patrón.
"We are extremely happy with this campaign as it has driven excellent traffic during a time of year that is typically slow in our business," said Gamm. "We believe this is the strongest offer of the year in the pizza industry and customers still have a few weeks to take advantage of it."
The Pizza Patrón $3.99 promotion is available to customers every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until October 1st and is good only on carry out pizzas, with no limit on purchases. All Pizza Patrón locations in the U.S. are offering the promotion, which represents a significant savings over Pizza Patrón's everyday highly-competitive value proposition of $6 for a large, one-topping pizza.
"We are happy to prove our hunch that having a deal less than five bucks would put us on customers' deal radar. Nothing makes us more excited than winning over new Pizza Patrón customers. It is the end game," said Gamm.
