ComForcare Senior Services To Host Free Informative Seminar For Families Dealing With Dementia

DementiaWise Seminar to Provide Valuable Tips to Families with Loved Ones Suffering From Dementia

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Sept. 16, 2014 // PRNewswire // - According to the Alzheimer's Association, by the time 1 in 3 seniors pass away, they will have been afflicted with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia. Dementia, a term used to describe a number of cognitive diseases which impair mental functions, can be debilitating for sufferers and heartbreaking for their loved ones. On Tuesday, October 21, ComForcare Senior Services will help families caring for someone with dementia by hosting an informative workshop at the Cherry Hill, NJ Public Library. At 5 P.M., refreshments will be provided and attendees will be able to meet with the seminar's keynote speaker, Dr. Deborah Bier, Director of Special Populations for ComForcare Senior Services. The hour-and a half keynote will begin at 6 P.M. The workshop will provide helpful tips and best practices to make caring for loved ones safer and less stressful.

Dr. Bier's keynote, "Game-Changing Approaches to Dementia Care for Family Caregivers," will educate attendees on how to recognize signs of dementia, as well as provide tips for how to best deal with its effects on those being cared for.

The workshop will be hosted by New Jersey ComForcare franchise owner Michael Costigan, who runs an office in Burlington and Cherry Hill. Sponsors will be on site to discuss products and services available for dementia sufferers. For more information or to register for the workshop, contact ComForcare at 609-747-8866 or www.dementiawise.com/.

The dementia workshop reflects ComForcare's continued commitment to improving the lives of those suffering from dementia. Through ComForcare's existing DementiaWise™ services, founded around principles accepted by the Alzheimer's Association, clients with dementia are provided compassionate, professional at-home care, including personal hygiene and grooming, nutritious meal preparation, and dressing.
