California Tortilla Helps End Child Hunger with No Kid Hungry, Raises Over $17,000 for the Charity

Fast Casual Favorite Donates $1 to No Kid Hungry® for Every "Fresh Deal" Sold September 7 - 13

September 29, 2014 // Franchising.com // ROCKVILLE, MD - At California Tortilla, hungry customers craving signature burritos, salads, and more re-imagined Mexican favorites come in every day, leaving full and satisfied. But there are many who struggle to afford a well-rounded meal, for themselves and for their children. Which is why California Tortilla teamed up with Share Our Strength to support Dine Out For No Kid Hungry®, making sure that kids get the nourishment they need to stay happy and healthy.

From September 7 – September 13th California Tortilla asked customers to upgrade their meal to a "Fresh Deal", which added a drink and side item or dessert to their meal for just $2.99, and they would donate $1.00 from each Fresh Deal sold. California Tortilla restaurants nationwide raised nearly $15,000 while the Corporate office donated an additional $2500, bringing their total donation to just over $17,000.

No Kid Hungry is a non-profit making it its mission to end child hunger by connecting kids to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals, educating and empowering low-income families to make sure their kids get healthy meals at home, and working to shine a national spotlight on the crisis. California Tortilla has worked with No Kid Hungry for several years, donating over $100,000 since their partnership began.
