New Haven County Bar Association Honors Wiggin and Dana Partner with Lifetime Achievement Award

Prout, Jr. will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the New Haven County Bar Association's 2014 Annual Dinner on October 2nd. The award "honors and recognizes a New Haven area lawyer or judge who has been in practice for at least forty years; has made outstanding contributions to the legal profession; is held in high esteem and regard by clients, colleagues, and the judiciary; and practices with the highest ethical and professional standards."

"The New Haven County Bar Association is proud to honor William H. Prout, Jr. with the Lifetime Achievement Award at its upcoming Annual Dinner," said Robert C. Hinton, President of the New Haven County Bar Association. "Bill served with distinction as President of the Association from 2003 to 2004 and is a longtime member of the Executive Committee. We are privileged to recognize and celebrate both his contributions to the Bar Association over the years and his selfless dedication and service for the betterment of the legal profession."

A well-known and respected litigation attorney, Bill has been a leader in the legal community throughout his career. He is Past-President of the New England Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) and the New Haven County Bar Association. He chaired the Professionalism Subcommittee of the CBA's Task Force on the Future of the Legal Profession and served on the Judicial Branch's Public Service and Trust Commission and the Complex Litigation Committee. He co-chaired the CBA's Veterans Assistance Task Force, and continues to serve as a member of the Veterans and Military Affairs Section. He served as Counsel to the Federal Grievance Committee and is a long-time member of the New Haven Inn of Court.

Bill is a member of the firm's Litigation Department and is Chair of the Professional Liability Defense Practice Group. His practice includes complex litigation matters in the areas of professional liability, complex probate litigation, business, securities, unfair trade practice, and construction law. Bill joined Wiggin and Dana in 1973. He was a member of the firm's first Executive Committee, formed in 1985, and later rejoined the Executive Committee in 2009. He is Chair of Wiggin and Dana's Professional Ethics Group and is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee.
