Ice House America Introduces New Mid-Size Model, The Ice Kiosk

Company Continues to Chip Away at $4 Billion Bagged Ice Industry

November 11, 2014 // Franchising.com // Jacksonville, FL – Ice House America, the pioneer in automated ice and water vending technology, is proud to announce the launch of its Ice Kiosk, the company's new mid-size ice and water vending machine designed for medium to high traffic sites and requiring a footprint of less than 100 sq. ft. The Ice Kiosk offers two ice bin size options of 2,500 lbs. and 3,000 lbs., which allows owners to determine the best ice supply level for their anticipated consumer demand.

The Ice Kiosk vends both bagged ice and bulk water, which is produced fresh and on-demand using municipal-supplied water that flows through Ice House America's patented filtration and sterilization process ensuring that customers enjoy clean, fresh ice and water with every purchase. The Ice Kiosk is available in a 12' and 16' length offering the owner the option to start with one ice maker and scale up to three ice makers as consumer demand increases. The standard Ice Kiosk retails for $73,995.

Depending on their location, Ice House America offers entrepreneurs two consumer-facing brands: Twice the Ice (independent ownership brand) and IceBorn (franchise brand) both offering three (3) bulk ice vending machine models, including Ice House, Ice Kiosk (new) and Ice Express – all are freestanding, 24/7, automated retail ice destinations offering bagged or straight-to-cooler ice that is filtered, clean and made on-demand. The three machines require from 12 sq. ft to 200 sq. ft. and their costs range from $19,000 to $100,000. The Ice House, the largest model, requires 200 sq. ft. -- about the size of two parking spaces and can be conveniently located in retail center parking lots.

All three Ice House America ice and water vending machine come standard with SmartIce™ Remote Management, a web-based application specifically developed to manage all aspects of the owner's business including location information, product sales, technical operations, and customer service. Business owners have 24-7 access to real-time information via their smart phone or computer. Ice House America has also teamed up with the Small Business Association and BoeFly (the premier marketplace for franchise loans) to supply potential independent owners and franchisees an array of financing options.

"In a little over 10 years, Ice House America has accomplished its initial goal and has become the sustainable alternative to traditional ice manufacturing and retail. The company set out to define the ice and water vending industry by delivering ice and water on demand that is fresh, clean (never touched by human hands) and green (made on site) – at a price that keeps consumers returning for more," says Michael Little, Ice House America's vice president of marketing. "While continuing to chip away at the $4 billion retail bagged ice industry, Ice House America continuously strives to improve bulk ice and water-filtering technology to reduce the carbon footprint."

Little goes on to say that Ice House America has revolutionized the way small businesses and consumers purchase bulk ice and water and offers a product, which conveys quality, freshness and convenience as the ice is neither delivered nor handled, and the customer's hands are the first to touch the ice. Typical ice production and delivery creates supply chain waste, especially carbon emissions generated by distant manufacturing sites and delivery fleets burning fossil fuels. Moreover, as the convenient ice source serving the bulk ice requirements of scores of nearby businesses, Ice House America cuts down the need for cold storage and costly, inefficient in-house icemakers.
