Bowl of Heaven Signs Multi-Unit Franchise Deal For San Diego

The delicious açaí bowl brand to expand in home state of California

December 02, 2014 // Franchising.com // Newport Beach, CA – Bowl of Heaven - the innovative concept which serves up delicious açaí bowls, smoothies and cold pressed juices which feature plant protein and super food ingredients which are sugar and dairy-free - has announced the signing of a new franchise deal for San Diego, CA.

Bowl Of Heaven has partnered with Fransmart, the franchise development company responsible for the explosive growth of brands like Five Guys and Qdoba Mexican Grill, to expand the brand through franchising.

The new franchisee, Craig Shugert, Managing Director of Legacy Life Ventures, worked with Fransmart Director of Development Jolly Khabrani on securing the San Diego territory, and has established an aggressive multi-store rollout with the first store opening in early 2015. Shugert is targeting health conscious communities like Carmel Valley, Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Bernardo and beach communities, where he’s confident the all-natural ingredients of Bowl Of Heaven’s products will go over well.

Craig is a dynamic and strategically focused leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and a formidable record of building companies. With more than 20 years of experience with consumer and food products, he is excited to grow Bowl Of Heaven to be the largest fast casual, healthy restaurant chain in San Diego.

Of his decision to partner with Bowl Of Heaven, Shugert said, “Bowl of Heaven is the most exciting ‘healthy, fast casual restaurant concept I have ever experienced. After having my own health scare and realizing the health benefits of antioxidant rich Acai bowl meals with Vegan protein, as an alternative to a hamburger for lunch, I was sold!”

Shugert, who has been a runner up in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year contest, also recognizes a huge and growing market for healthy diners who are looking for the vegan and gluten-free super foods which Bowl Of Heaven delivers for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Says Shugert, “I am hopeful that health plans will start rewarding consumers for eating great tasting healthy foods like ours.”

Bowl Of Heaven is expanding across the country through a combination of company and franchise owned stores– starting with their home state of California where they have already signed other franchise deals for both Northern and Southern California and Santa Clara and Orange Counties, and recently opened a new company store in Newport Beach.

Bowl of Heaven is a revolutionary fast casual concept as it is poised to overtake various segments in the space including healthy meal replacements, clean eating and cold pressed juicing.

About Bowl of Heaven

Bowl of Heaven serves up fresh Açaí bowls - healthy meals made with both fresh and frozen fruits, super fruits, and healthy natural toppings like organic granola and honey – which are considered the future of delicious fast casual meal replacements. These bowls, which are currently popular in Brazil and Hawaii, do not use any dairy or added sugars, are filled with nutrition and antioxidants, and due to the superfood traits of the açaí berry can fill you up and energize you for hours on a mere 500 calories!

The concept was conceived by Dan McCormick and his son-in-law, Brandon Beazer, who both fell in love with açaí bowls when they experienced them out in Hawaii, and longed for a way that they could enjoy the exotic fruit bowls back home in California. In 2010, they opened the first Bowl of Heaven location and accomplished this mission!

Bowl of Heaven is a winning combination of the health benefits of the super food ingredients and the wide consumer appeal of frozen bowls and smoothies. Bowl of Heaven keeps customers coming back for more because they are not only delicious but also make consumers feel good about themselves.
