Art Van Furniture And FOX 2 TV To Host 5th Annual American Red Cross Blood Drive December 29

WARREN, Mich., Dec. 22, 2014 // PRNewswire // -- It's what's on the inside that counts, and donating lifesaving blood counts for a lot to those in need. Art Van Furniture, FOX 2 TV and the American Red Cross are hosting their fifth annual community blood drive on Monday, December 29 from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Art Van Furniture's customer service building adjacent to its Warren store at 6500 East 14 Mile Road.

"The act of giving blood takes minutes, but its impact can last a lifetime," said Gary Van Elslander, president of Art Van Furniture. "Every year, our selfless employees and valued guests sign up and step up to donate blood. It's a good feeling for every participant, and an even better feeling for recipients."

The American Red Cross is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. This year's community blood drive will help support thousands of children and adults locally as well as across the country.

Donors will receive a complimentary American Red Cross holiday long-sleeve t-shirt, while supplies last. To donate, interested participants can call 800-RED-CROSS to schedule an appointment or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: artvan.
