Cousins Subs® Awards Fans With 'Game Changing' Experience

Cousins Subs Partnered With UW Athletics On 'Game Changer' Social Media Sweepstakes

January 07, 2015 // Franchising.com // MILWAUKEE – Cousins Subs®, in conjunction with UW Athletics, creates a winning experience for three lucky fans through its 'Game Changer' social media sweepstakes.

More than 7,500 participants entered into the 'Game Changer' sweepstakes, which ran Nov. 1 – 30. During the sweepstakes, participants were encouraged to visit the Cousins Subs Facebook Page and website to enter for a chance to win a 60" LED TV, home theater system, a catered party for up to 20 people, free subs for a year, a $100 Cousins Subs gift card and other Badgers prizes.

"The campaign was an extension of our partnership with UW Athletics that offered us an exciting opportunity to further our investment in Wisconsin and other Wisconsin-based brands," said Justin McCoy, vice president of marketing at Cousins Subs. "The sweepstakes awarded us the opportunity to interact with not only Cousins Subs fans, but those who are deeply rooted in Wisconsin as well."

The following are the 'Game Changer' sweepstakes winners:

  • Grand Prize Winner: Nicole Volkomer of Greenfield, Wis., won a home theater system including a 60" Sharp LED HDTV, sound system and mounting bracket courtesy of ABC Audio Video, a catered party for up to 20 people and a $100 gift certificate to use at Bucky's Locker Room
  • First Place Winner: Kerry Stehlik of Plymouth, Wis., won free subs for a year and a $200 gift certificate for Bucky's Locker Room
  • Second Place Winner: Aleice Ellerkamp of Madison, Wis., won a $100 Cousins Subs gift card and a $100 gift certificate for Bucky's Locker Room

"I am a huge Badger fan and frequently visit the Greenfield Avenue Cousins Subs," said Volkomer. "I saw the sweepstakes and thought it was exciting so I entered. I normally do not win things, this is definitely exciting. I'm a huge football fan! Cousins Subs is amazing!"

Social interaction on Facebook and Twitter played a large role in the campaign's success. Through partnering with UW Athletics, Cousins was able to interact with the University and even get the mascot Bucky Badger involved. Fans also took to social media to express their excitement over the campaign and the Wisconsin-based partnership.

As a sponsor of UW Athletics, Cousins Subs is selling select subs at Camp Randall (in Badger Alley and Breese Terrace) during all Badgers football games and the Kohl Center for men's basketball and men's hockey home games during the 2015 sports season.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs® and its franchisees operate more than 120 sub sandwich shops in three states, with bold expansion plans. The first Cousins Subs was established in Milwaukee in 1972 by Bill Specht and his cousin. Their dream was to bring East Coast-style sub sandwiches to Milwaukee – with their own deli fresh touch. They started with their bread, developing a secret recipe with the perfect taste and crunch. That bread is the cornerstone of the Cousins Subs slogan, "Better Bread. Better Subs." The original recipe is still closely followed at every Cousins Subs restaurant, where each sandwich is made to order using freshly sliced deli meats, cheeses, and vegetables – and the bread is baked fresh each day. Forty-two years later and still family owned, Cousins Subs employees and franchisees are driven by their mission to "Make it a Better Day" in all they do. In 2013, the brand proudly announced the establishment of the Make it Better Foundation, dedicated to funding causes that address health and wellness, hunger and youth education in the communities that Cousins Subs serves.
