77th Fuzzy's Taco Shop Opens in Austin, Texas

Fuzzy's Brings Baha-Style Fast Casual Cuisine to Midtown Commons at Crestview Station

AUSTIN, Texas & FORT WORTH, Texas - January 19, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Fort Worth, Texas-based Fuzzy's Taco Shop®, the award-winning, fast-casual Baja-style Mexican restaurant group, opened its 77th restaurant last week. Located in Austin, Texas, this the third Fuzzy's Taco Shop to open in Travis County within the past four years, joining locations in Cedar Park and in Austin on 'The Drag' near the University of Texas.

“At the heart of everything we do, you'll find our guest. We are all about being 'Fresh, Fast, Fun' at Fuzzy's Taco Shop. We provide guests with generous portions of uniquely flavorful food at a great value, in an exciting, yet relaxing atmosphere.”

The newly built 4,039-square-foot restaurant is located in the center of the Midtown Commons at Crestview Station mixed-use development in North Austin off North Lamar Boulevard, and is operated by franchisee Primo Eats Restaurant Management, LLC. This is Primo's first Fuzzy's Taco Shop, with other locations coming soon in Round Rock and Georgetown, Texas.

Located next to the Crestview MetroRail Station at Airport Boulevard and N. Lamar, this unique taco shop includes a covered patio, 14 televisions, free wi-fi, and a full bar open all day featuring four different frozen margaritas. The new restaurant carries 12 beers on tap including some local brews: Circle Brewing Texas Blur Hefeweizen, Stash IPA, and ZOA. Local liquor favorites such as 512 Tequila, Titos Vodka, and Deep Eddys Vodka are also available.

This new Fuzzy's serves breakfast all day, lunch and dinner, and is open 7:00am-midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 7:00am-1:00am Friday and Saturday, and will soon offer catering as well.

"We are thrilled to join the Fuzzy's Taco Shop family," said franchise owner Eric Smith. "This is our first Fuzzy's franchise in Travis County. Even more exciting for local Fuzzy's fans is our potential to grow the brand in the greater Austin area. We see immediate opportunity to bring Fuzzy's famous and fun Baja-style fast-casual concept to more diners in the Round Rock and Georgetown areas and have already started researching potential new locations.”

Known for its uniquely flavored food, margaritas, plentiful portions, casual fun ambiance, and famous fish tacos, Fuzzy's food menu also includes nachos, quesadillas, grilled sandwiches, big salads and breakfast dishes. However, it is Fuzzy's addictive $1.99 signature taco that is laced with feta cheese and garlic sauce that is the backbone of the menu.

The new Austin Fuzzy's Taco Shop's current specials include:

  • $1.99 tacos and $3.50 draft beers all day every day.
  • Happy Hour Monday – Friday, 3 pm – 6 pm: $1 off House Ritas, $1 off well drinks, and $1 off domestic drafts.

"We are pleased to work with Primo Eats Restaurant Management to open their first location in our home state," said Fuzzy's Taco Shop President Chuck Bush. "At the heart of everything we do, you'll find our guest. We are all about being 'Fresh, Fast, Fun' at Fuzzy's Taco Shop. We provide guests with generous portions of uniquely flavorful food at a great value, in an exciting, yet relaxing atmosphere."

UT Fuzzy's Taco Shop on Guadalupe Remodel

The Fuzzy's Taco Shop near the University of Texas on Guadalupe recently changed management and has been closed for remodeling. The new owners also purchased the Fuzzy's Taco Shop in Cedar Park, and expect to re-open the Guadalupe Fuzzy's next month. Open since 2012, it's been a popular dining destination for UT students.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop was recently named to website and mobile app Urbanspoon's annual list of Top American Eateries for Cheap Eats, and was featured as a "Rising Star" in QSR magazine's 2014 Best Franchise Deals report.

About Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Founded in 2001 near the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the original Fuzzy's Taco Shop® was purchased by Alan and Chuck Bush after just two years of operation. The father-son combination with a collective 20 years of restaurant industry experience initially took a slow, hands-on approach to running the business. They insisted on adhering to the Fuzzy's promise: “To focus our full attention on promptly and efficiently providing our guests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price in a fun atmosphere.” That promise remains central to the chain's success today as Fuzzy's expands across the country.

Fuzzy's corporate-owned and franchise locations are now serving fresh, handmade Baja-style Mexican food in 77 stores across nine states, with many more on the way. For more information, visit www.fuzzystacoshop.com.
