Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Announces 6th Austin Location: Alamo Drafthouse Mueller

March 09, 2015 // Franchising.com // AUSTIN, TX - Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is pleased to unveil plans to open its sixth Austin location, Alamo Drafthouse Mueller, at Mueller's town center, Aldrich Street in east Austin. The theater is slated to open in 2016.

"Ever since Mueller was first announced many years ago, we have loved the idea of opening up a theater there. Mueller is a groundbreaking development and a really cool neighborhood," said Alamo founder and CEO Tim League, "we are excited to be working with Catellus here and honored to be a part of it."

Opening in 2016, Alamo Drafthouse Mueller will feature six screens of new releases, classics, independent films, foreign movies and the Alamo's unique signature programming. The facility will have 6 auditoriums, seat approximately 600 people and will feature new luxurious 26" wide seats throughout. Continuing Alamo's support of movies on film, 2 auditoriums will also offer 35mm. All theaters will also feature 4k digital projection and state-of-the-art digital surround sound. Additionally, the layout of each auditorium will eliminate the traditional front row, ensuring every seat in the house allows for a great viewing experience.

The theater will also feature an adjacent bar/lounge with a stage for live music, outdoor patio seating, 48 beers on tap and craft cocktails designed by award-winning Beverage Director Bill Norris.

Every Alamo Drafthouse location features programming built to suit the immediate community. In addition to our traditional signature programming, Mueller will be a hub for our burgeoning family, kids and youth programming designed to serve the needs of the young families in and around the neighborhood.

"I've recently been charged with creating great cinema experiences for kids ages 3 to 18 at the Alamo," says Amy Averett, Alamo Director of Family and Community Engagement. "We look forward to bringing lots of great new family-focused programs as well as our 'Alamo Drafthouse NEXT' youth film program to the neighborhood."

"Alamo Drafthouse is an iconic Austin original," said Greg Weaver, executive vice president of Catellus, Mueller's master developer. "Alamo is the perfect anchor for Aldrich Street to become Austin's destination for entertainment along with other great local shops and eateries." Aldrich Street, the mixed-use town center for Mueller, is already home to The Thinkery, more than 1,000 apartments and corporate headquarters for Seton Healthcare Family and SEDL. Future local, regional and national shops and eateries will join a hotel, additional offices and homes in this dynamic district.

Founded in 1997 by Tim and Karrie League, the Alamo Drafthouse has become a fixture in the Austin film community and has consistently been named "Best Theater in Austin" by the Austin Chronicle for the past 15 years. Now expanding nationwide, the theaters have been heralded for their unique programming events and high exhibition standards, earning accolades such as "best theater ever" (Time Magazine) and "the coolest theater in the world" (Wired).
